As the name suggests, Japanese knotweed, also known as polygonum cuspidatum, is native to East Asia. Due to its rich color and elegant leaf shape, the plant was introduced to Europe and North America as an ornamental plant as early as the 19th century. Even though Japanese knotweed is considered an invasive species, it is valued and used for its secondary plant substances such as resveratrol.
Our organic knotweed drops contain an extract from the plant's roots, which is where the majority of the plant substances are found. The plants are cultivated in sunny Veneto, Italy, and harvested by hand. Due to the sandy soil there, the roots are easy to pull from the ground and can be processed undamaged. Each plant used comes from certified organic cultivation.
The mixing ratio for alcoholic extracts is usually calculated using the dry mass of the plants used. Our knotweed drops achieve a ratio of 1:10.
