Milk thistle, also known as silybum marianum , is an herb with purple, thistle-shaped flowers and white marbled leaves. It belongs to the asteraceae family , also known as the daisy family. Its fruits contain silymarin, a mixture of secondary plant substances. The main components are silybinin and isosilybin.
Our milk thistle drops contain an alcoholic extract from the seeds and fruits of the milk thistle. These are harvested by hand in the organically certified fields of Venice, Italy, and processed directly. The entire fruiting body of the milk thistle is subjected to a gentle maceration.
The mixing ratio for alcoholic extracts is usually calculated using the dry mass of the plants used. Our organic milk thistle drops achieve a ratio of 1:10.
