The cerascreen® milk and egg allergy test
Milk and Egg Allergy Test - Out of Milk?
A milk and egg allergy is a classic allergy: the immune system fights a substance that is actually harmless to the body. It should be made clear that a milk allergy is not lactose intolerance. One of the biggest differences is that milk allergy occurs mainly in small children and babies after weaning and is less common in adults. Because the proteins contained in cow's milk are usually the first foreign proteins that an infant absorbs. If there is a milk allergy, the immune system overreacts and attacks the protein with so-called IgE antibodies. The typical symptoms are then disorders in the digestive tract, on the skin or in the respiratory tract. In the case of a milk allergy, certain proteins in milk are not tolerated: the casein or whey protein. If you are allergic to casein, you should avoid milk and all products made from it from all animal species. If the milk and egg allergy test reveals that you are allergic to whey protein, all you have to do is avoid cow's milk and the products made from it. However, most allergy sufferers are allergic to both forms of protein. To find out, you should do the cerascreen milk and egg allergy test. Milk allergy usually disappears in children by school age. A regular test to determine whether milk is tolerated again is therefore necessary.
Milk and Egg Allergy Test - Out of Eggs?
An egg or chicken egg allergy also occurs mainly at a young age and is usually not a permanent allergy. There is an allergy to certain proteins from different foods. That is why it is often called chicken protein allergy. The allergens can be in the egg white as well as in the yolk. However, they are more common in the protein. The blood is checked for IgE antibodies in the milk and egg allergy test.
With milk and egg allergies, the symptoms can occur immediately after ingestion or with a delay in the mouth, throat, nose, respiratory tract, skin and eyes. The gastrointestinal tract, the lungs and the cardiovascular system can also be affected by the allergy. We can make a diagnosis using the milk and egg allergy test. You can then get further medical information, such as further treatment, from your family doctor, for example.
