Omega-3 Vegan – vegan Omega-3 oil from microalgae and stone seeds
Are you looking for a high-quality vegan Omega-3 oil? With Omega-3 Vegan you get a good alternative to our two Omega-3 products, which Fish- or Krill oil Our vegan Omega-3 oil contains plenty of Omega 3 fatty acids. from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. and from arable olibanum oil. Omega-3 Vegan has a pleasant taste thanks to a natural orange flavor (doesn't taste like algae).
The omega-3 fatty acids EPA, DHA and ALA
Omega-3 fatty acids are unsaturated fatty acids that are essential for the human body, meaning they cannot be produced by the body itself. Omega-3 fatty acids, especially the two most important omega-3 fatty acids for the human body, Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are found in large quantities in fatty marine fish and krill. However, these are not suitable for people with a vegan lifestyle or existing seafood allergies, etc.
Those who want to supply their body with vegan omega-3 fatty acids can use omega-3-containing vegetable oils such as linseed, rapeseed, soy, and walnut oil. These contain, in particular, Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Although the body can produce the two important omega-3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) from it, ALA must first be converted into the fatty acid stearidonic acid (SDA) to produce EPA and DHA. Unfortunately, the conversion capacity of ALA to SDA is limited.
Microalgae Schizochytrium sp.
Algae are a more ideal, but rather unusual, plant source for Omega-3 fatty acids . The marine microalgae Schizochytrium sp. is particularly suitable for this purpose, as it also produces the two fatty acids EPA and, in particular, DHA. Microalgae are tiny (visible only under a microscope) plant-like organisms consisting of only one or a few cells. Schizochytrium sp. is found in coastal marine areas. It requires no light and feeds on organic and plant matter.
Our microalgae oil is extracted and processed in Switzerland. It is a high-quality refined oil obtained from Schizochytrium sp. using a physical extraction technology without the use of organic solvents.
Field stoneseed
The inconspicuous plant known as field alyssum (Buglossoides arvensis) also grows in our latitudes, and its name immediately reveals its preferred habitat. Its seeds, in particular, have recently attracted attention because they contain various omega-3 fatty acids. They are rich in, among other things, stearidonic acid (SDA), which our body can convert into EPA and DHA. Thus, the oil from field alyssum helps the body obtain these important omega-3 fatty acids. The plant also contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
Our field stone seed oil is extracted from the seeds of non-genetically modified plants (GMO-free).
Studies on the conversion of SDA to EPA
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study found that the oil from the seeds of the field alyssum is converted to EPA three to four times more effectively than flaxseed oil. Field alyssum contains 18-20% SDA, the highest known naturally occurring SDA content of any vegetable oil.

What else is included in Omega-3 Vegan?
- Vitamin E as an antioxidant: Omega-3 Vegan contains a natural, high-tocopherol extract (vitamin E), which acts as a natural antioxidant.
-
Lecithin for better bioavailability: Omega-3 Vegan contains a special Lecithin (a phospholipid) from sunflowers. This acts as a natural emulsifier and allows fat and water to mix (see images below).

Special formulation against burping We have developed a special formulation so that the oil is less likely to upset the stomach and is therefore better tolerated by children. Algae oil can cause unpleasant burping or discomfort in some consumers. For Omega-3 Vegan, we have therefore developed a special recipe that is ideal for this group of people. Thanks to liposomal processing (see images), the oil is much better tolerated and easier to digest. The Omega-3 oil blends well with the watery stomach environment, supporting the tolerability and absorption of the oil. This also prevents burping.
Good for the brain, eyes and heart
Omega-3 Vegan contains a high content of Omega 3 fatty acids . These have the following functions, among others:
- EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function (from 250 mg EPA and DHA daily).
- DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function (from 250 mg DHA daily).
- DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision (from 250 mg DHA daily).
- DHA and EPA contribute to normal blood pressure (starting at 3 g of DHA and EPA daily. Do not exceed 5 g of DHA and EPA per day!)
If pregnant or breastfeeding women take DHA, it contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain in the fetus or breastfed infant. The mother must consume 250 mg of DHA and EPA daily, plus an additional 200 mg of DHA, but should not exceed a maximum of 450 mg of DHA and EPA.
