How is acne formed?

Acne is a collective term for diseases of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Normally, special glands in the skin secrete a fatty substance called sebum (lat. sebum). This sebum reaches the surface of the skin via a duct along the hair shaft, where it forms a protective film. With acne, too much sebum is produced, for example because of the hormonal changes during puberty. The sebum production is mainly influenced by the sex hormones. If the excretory duct is also clogged, for example because too many horny cells are formed there due to a hereditary predisposition, the sebum can accumulate. This leads to the formation of so-called comedones, better known as blackheads or pimples. Special bacteria (eg Propionibacterium acnes) can multiply in the accumulated sebum, which can lead to inflammation of the surrounding tissue. The clinical picture of acne shows comedones (blackheads), papules, pustules or pimples and even scars in severe forms. The face, décolleté, neck and upper back are most commonly affected. There are different forms of acne. Young people are most commonly affected, but it can occur at any age.

Artemisia annua

We use an ethanolic extract from the leaves of for the Clear Skin Gel Artemisia annua, very similar to our popular one Artemisia Gel . Our Artemisia plants come from organic farming. They are grown in Switzerland, harvested and processed by hand. We use only the dried leaf tips and no stems or woody parts, resulting in high quality. The valuable active ingredients are dissolved by means of an extract and reused for the gel.

D-panthenol

D-panthenol (also dexpanthenol or Provitamin B5) is contained in many skin care products. It increases the skin's ability to retain moisture and has nourishing and regenerating properties. In addition, D-panthenol also has anti-irritant properties and can stimulate wound healing. We rely on a high content of nourishing D-panthenol.

Vitamin C (as sodium ascorbyl phosphate)

vitamin C From a chemical point of view, it is a «mimosa», so it is very unstable and can only get into the skin in very small quantities in this form. For this reason, a special form of vitamin C, namely sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a water-soluble salt of ascorbic acid), is used in Clear Skin Gel. This is only converted into vitamin C in the skin, which can ensure better stability. Vitamin C can support connective tissue metabolism and collagen production in the skin. Vitamin C also has positive effects on the skin barrier and can provide care for impure skin conditions.

aloe vera

The Aloe vera gel in Clear Skin Gel comes from the inner leaf gel. It is quickly absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin and is free of aloin, which is found in the outer leaf and is toxic. The aloe vera gel has an itching-reducing, cooling and moisture-retaining care effect. We make the aloe vera gel ourselves from organic aloe vera powder. This means that we are independent of suppliers and their formulations (thickeners, preservatives, etc.).

What is the benefit of a gel?

The formulation is a fat-free, water-based gel (= Hydrogel), which forms a thin layer on the skin. The individual ingredients are enclosed in this layer and are therefore available to the skin for longer, ie the caring effect is stronger and lasts longer. The gel is easy to apply and spread evenly on the skin. It does not become sticky after drying and does not tighten on the skin. We use natural xanthan gum as a gelling agent. It forms beautiful gels and is very easy to apply. Xanthan Gum gets through fermentation obtained from glucose or starch using a special bacterium.
